Respiratory
diseases are health conditions that affect the respiratory system and are
usually found in the nose, lungs, trachea, pharynx, bronchial tubes, alveoli,
and larynx. Respiration is the processes of taking in oxygen and giving out
carbon dioxide. You can experience respiratory diseases due to a number of
reasons.
People who are prone to pollution are more likely to suffer from respiratory diseases. Some of the most common respiratory problems are discussed below.

Chronic Cough
This
is a very common respiratory problem. Any cough that lasts for more than three
weeks is called as chronic cough. There are many possible causes of chronic
cough, including infections and airway problems.
Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease
This
involves diseases that lead to airflow obstruction such as emphysema and
chronic bronchitis. Polluted environment and being exposed to toxics like
tobacco smoke are the main risk factor of this respiratory disease. Some common
symptoms include sputum, dyspnea, and cough.
Asthma
Asthma
is a respiratory disease can restricts the airflow in and out of the lungs by
causing inflammation of the airways. The occurrence of an asthma attack causes
the muscles of the bronchial tree to become tight and leads to the swelling of
air passages. This reduces the airflow and also increases the production of
mucus.
Respiratory Arrest
Respiratory
arrest is a serious form of lung injury. It causes a sudden and progressive
pulmonary edema, increases bilateral infiltrates, and reduces lung compliance.
Cystic Fibrosis
It
is a hereditary disease that causes the production of unusually thick mucus
because of the presence of an abnormal transmembrane ion transporter. This
condition primarily affects the pancreas and the lung.
Bronchiolitis
This
viral lung infection is often caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
This virus spreads in the air through droplets and contaminated objects and
hands. The symptoms of RSV include wheezing, runny nose, coughing, difficulty
breathing out, rapid breathing, and fever.
